What with running my own two businesses and becoming the P&C President of the school that Trinity is attending I don’t know where the times goes.

www.feetuponline.com is starting to get busier and I am welcoming the business with open arms.  It is mainly word of mouth at present but we got our first nibble for business from the website yesterday so that’s a good thing.  we are working on a variety of different sites, some informational, some e-commerce so it’s a good balance for us and some good experience.

We are also offering something a little different when it comes to logo design which seems to work well for us, we supply a range of logo designs when someone approaches us and it makes the process so much easier to finalise.

www.postedbypixies.com is currently being promoted on www.freestuffday.com.au and over 40% of my visitors are coming from there so that is great, I just need some more people to buy subscriptions now, rather than winning them or me giving them away as gifts.  They really are a great gift for little girls and there are so many value added goodies, it’s just a matter of getting that information out to people.  I know that a letter doesn’t look like much when you give it as a birthday gift but if it is accompanied by a little something fairy like the enjoyment that the kids get when a letter continues to arrive in the mail each month is priceless!

The school is going great guns and becoming  very popular in our area with people even moving to the area so they are "in zone" for the school.  I am doing the school e-newsletter on a fortnightly basis and that can be found at www.coomeraspringsss.eq.edu.au. It is turning into another arm of Feet Up and I am hoping to pick up some other schools as they come on line.  It’s such a good fundraiser for the P&C as they (or in our case - me) sell all the advertising and make a good profit for the P&C from it.

Obviously my own school is not paying for their e-newsletter on a fortnightly basis - (I’m a sucker for giving stuff away) but other schools that are coming on line are paying a small monthly fee for me to prepare their e-newsletters and still making plenty from the advertising.  It works out well all round that way!

I have a post-it note stuck to my computer to prompt me to blog more from now on in, so I hope I keep it up.  I think everyone has just been so busy of late, but we need to remember all our friends out there and keep in touch.

One of my bug-bears is / are typing errors on websites and in books or documents.  Obviously in a book or document you can’t always point out the problem to someone but with a website you can.

A couple of weeks ago I offered some feedback on a website (another Mum) where the site had typing errors and some spelling errors that I thought impacted on the site.

I thought I was polite and commented a number of times that I didn’t want to offend but I obviously did because the email I got back about my comments was very rude, offensive and a personal attack against me as a person.  I must have really upset said Mum

What do you think?  If you have a website, or print a brochure, or send out promotional material for your business would you like any errors pointed out?  Is it polite to proof-read others information and offer feedback or should you just keep your comments to yourself?

As I said, this is something I do for a job so it’s hard to not notice these things and hard to not point them out, but I want some other opinions on this….please?

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner. I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, ‘If I give you this money, will you buy some wine with it instead of dinner?’

‘No, I had to stop drinking years ago’, the homeless woman told me.

‘Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?’ I asked. ‘No,I don’t waste time shopping’, the homeless woman said, ‘I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.’

‘Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?’ I asked. ‘Are you NUTS?’ replied the homeless woman. ‘I haven’t had my hair done in 20 years!’

‘Well,’ I said, ‘I’m not going to give you the money. Instead, I’m going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.’

The homeless woman was shocked. ‘Won’t your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I’m dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting.’

I said, ‘That’s okay. It’s important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.’

Anyhoo I was tagged, back in the dim dark days of August by Donnamarie and I haven’t had a chance to do anything about it so here goes….

First of all I need to tell you the rules of this tag:

So here are 8 things about me:

1/     I am the oldest of three children and therefore the bossiest. (according to my younger sister)

2/    I am trying to loose the winter / wine kilos I have put on over the last three months and have started exercising (again).

3/    My small business www.postedbypixies.com is undergoing a revamp and a reduction in  prices to try and attract more business.

 4/    I wish I could have liposuction to get rid of my Mummy tummy (while discussing body shape with my sister last week she referred to me as "Apple" shaped).

5/     At Eumundi markets on the weekend I saw a t-shirt that read "I love these ungrateful bossy children" and I wanted to buy it.  (I didn’t)  I will just have to wear the one I already own that says (Who are these children and why are they calling me Mum? or the one from www.realmums.com.au that says "I keep hitting Escape but I’m still here!"

6/     I miss my friends from New Zealand and want / need to make more.

7/     I am going to go on the school P&C committee for my daughters new school - to have some influence at the school and meet new people.

8/     I am at work and should be working and not doing my blog on www.mumspace.net

We are off to New Zealand for Christmas this year to celebrate with my family so light weight christmas presents are important as they will have to come with us in our suitcases.  So when I spotted something the other day that would be great for sister and BIL I had to grab it.

Then I took my step-mum to Harbourtown to experience Outlet Shopping and found some things for the kids as well.

I am always well organsied and usually have the shopping done by about mid October but even I think this is a little early.  I have been known to forget I have already bought something and get a person another present when I start too early so will have to make a list (another one of my control freak tendancies coming to the fore

What do you do about the Christmas shopping?

We are having a great time with them here though and the kids are loving it.  We just had a long weekend at Noosa being tourist and visiting Underwater World and the Ginger Factory etc. and this morning it was great to see Miss 4 wake her Grandma by putting her head on the pillow next to Grandma and quietly saying "Wake-Up Grandma"  Grandma opened her eyes to see Little Miss about 2 inches from her face smiling at her.

A while ago - (pre kids) my step-dad said the reason you have kids is so that they can give you grandkids, it’s at times like this morning when I see what he means…my kids might be driving me crazy - but the Grandparents are loving it all!!

I rock!!

The other good news is that after nearly 30 hours (where did I find the time) I have nearly finished my contra work for my friend Jeannie at her site (www.mindbodyme.com.au) as well.  So you should check it out if you need any beauty products and don’t have time to get out to get them!
